Our Story  ·  Established 2020

We didn't find cacao.
It found us.

Spirit of Cacao began with two friends, one cup, and a calling neither of us could ignore, to share the real thing: rare Criollo cacao, held with intention from the Peruvian Amazon to your hands.

How we got here

A friendship first. A calling second.

2005

Two friends, long before the name

Before the ceremonies, before the business, there was us. Two friends growing up side by side, always drawn to the deeper questions.

2018

One cup changed everything

We sat with real ceremonial cacao for the first time. As practitioners of Reiki, Ayurveda and Shamanic healing, we recognised what we were holding. Not a drink, but a doorway. A way to slow down, reconnect, and return to the heart.

2020

Spirit of Cacao is born

We created Spirit of Cacao to share pure, intentional cacao with people seeking something real. Every batch is infused with Reiki, offered with reverence, care and integrity.

2023

Two homes, one dream

Georgia moved north to the Sunshine Coast, opening our Queensland shipping home and gathering handmade pieces from local makers to live alongside our cacao. Elyse holds Melbourne.

Today

In community, daily

Sixteen hundred kilometres apart, we still talk every single day, growing Spirit of Cacao into something we get to be in community with. With each other, and with you.

The Medicine · Tarapoto, San Martín, Perú

The rarest cacao on Earth.

Deep in the Amazonian region of Tarapoto, San Martín, northern Peru, the original variety still grows wild: Criollo, the mother strain of all cacao, untouched by cross-breeding for over 2,000 years.

0.01% of the world's cacao supply is true Criollo

Single origin · Wild-grown · Non-GMO · 100% pure cacao mass

01.

Hand-picked

Each pod is gathered by hand at peak ripeness, under the forest canopy, never before its time.

02.

Sun-roasted

Traditionally roasted by the sun, never high heat, keeping the medicine whole and intact.

03.

Air-dried

Gently air-dried to preserve purity, flavour and vitality in every single bean.

Right relationship

The hands behind the harvest.

Better than fair trade, we go direct to the farmers and keepers who protect this medicine mindfully and sustainably. Our sourcing supports three communities of northern Peru, honouring cultural tradition and right relationship with the land.

What Reiki-infused means to us

An ancient frequency in every cup.

Reiki, at its essence, is pure love, the highest vibrational frequency on Earth. And love, held with intention, transforms what it touches.

Every batch is infused by our hands before it reaches yours. The intention is simple and complete: that this cacao finds you, and supports you in remembering who you are.

What comes from the earth through right connection is rare and sacred. This cacao carries that; an ancient knowing held in plant form. An invitation, through the body, to come home.

Love. God. Source.

We pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work, the Eastern Kulin Nation in Melbourne and the Gubbi Gubbi / Kabi Kabi people of the Sunshine Coast, and to the farmers and keepers of this sacred plant medicine in Tarapoto, Peru. Elders past, present and emerging.
